Credit Recovery | Brazilian SEC Resolution 247: 4 Key Impacts for Creditors

The Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) has expanded access to information from the Credit Information System (SCR), strengthened integration with the Central Bank of Brazil, and improved credit transaction analysis.

CVM Resolution No. 247/2026 will enter into force on November 1, 2026 for FIDCs and October 31, 2026 for securitizaton firms. We highlight four key impacts of the new regulation for creditors.

1. More information for credit assessment: FIDC managers will be able to access SCR information when assessing transactions involving receivables, enhancing their ability to evaluate debtors’ credit profiles and histories.

2. Improved risk assessment: Access to more comprehensive information may help identify risks at an earlier stage and make the acquisition and management of receivables portfolios more secure.

3. Greater transparency in credit transactions: The obligation imposed on securitization companies to report information to the SCR monthly will increase the availability of credit-related data, supporting more consistent assessments by investors and market participants.

4. Stronger portfolio management: With greater access to data and enhanced integration between the CVM and the Central Bank of Brazil, creditors and fund managers will have better tools to monitor exposures, assess debtors, and make informed portfolio decisions.

CVM Resolution 247 represents an important step toward improving the quality and availability of credit information, creating conditions for more informed decision-making and more efficient receivables portfolio management.
